Grunge Chic Altered Box

I am back with another project using Prima's Romance Novel Collection. I seriously cannot get enough of this collection! However, I have vowed that my next project will utilize a different collection =)

I created this altered cigar box using a variety of products from Prima, Wild Orchid Crafts, Tim Holtz, Bead Landing, and more. I tried to incorporate a shabby chic look, but a lot of grunge too! That's why I call it "Grunge Chic".

Here's a closer look at some of the details...

it was hard to capture on film, but I alcohol inked the entire box with gold and silver alcohol ink, crackled, and dry brushed it with black acrylic paint.

I also used texture paste to add dimension.

The best was I can describe my creative process is creating a layout I like and then jamming embellishments anywhere I can! I always create a layout and then completely veer off path and just pile products on!

This box is for a new friend of mine and I really hope she likes it!
Thanks for looking =)

Romance Novel Altered Projects

I'm back to share a project I made this weekend. Lately I have been obsessed with the Prima Romance Novel paper collection. I bought like 6 sheets of each so I wouldn't just hoard it! I created two projects this weekend with this amazing paper collection. The first thing I created is a little table top organizer. I picked this up from Michael's a couple of weeks ago for really cheap.
A little white acrylic paint, glue, and Prima Romance Novel papers and embellishments turned this ordinary organizer into a cute accessory for my craft room.

The next thing I created with this collection was a little box for a dear friend of mine. I am sending her a little gift this week to congratulate her on her new place and I wanted to include at least a little something handmade.

I really hope she likes the box. I am working on filling it with special trims right now... just wanted to photograph it before it got all packed up. I used the Romance novel collection for everything, including the handmade roses on the top.
I will probably be making a video of the larger organizer on my YouTube - LavishLaces

Finally...

Yes ladies...I finally have a blog! I hope to use this blog to post pictures of all my projects and tutorials as well as sales or special promotions. I thought about going back to post past projects, but I've decided just to start with current projects and move on from there. I am looking forward to this new adventure. I hope you will join me...
